{Identification|Personality|Id}

Apart from inside the family house, the {outdoors|exterior|outside the house} world became an {similarly|evenly} hectic experience. Many of the Australians that {We|I actually|My spouse and i} would {experience|come across|face} could never {appear|seem to be} to become completely {confident with|more comfortable with|at ease with} a Korean appearance {coupled with|along with|put together with} an Australian {highlight|accentuate|feature} - and, in some cases, my greater {understanding|knowledge} with the English {vocabulary|terminology|dialect}. A particular scenario that played out repeatedly was meeting someone for the first time after {a preliminary|a basic|a primary} phone call - it could have been something as pedestrian as {going to|browsing|traveling to} a store {to see|to watch|to look at} a product. The introduction became a refrain: "You seemed so Australian on the phone {which i|i|that we} didn't think it was you! {inch|inches|very well}
Upon reflection, though, it was the {continuous|regular|frequent} sense of " between {inch|inches|very well} that came to {suspend|hang up|hold} over me. While {We|I actually|My spouse and i} met other immigrant people, most were second or {3rd|3 rd} generation and {experienced|got|acquired} been born nationwide. {Actually|Also|Possibly} though they maintained an association to another culture, they {appeared to be|looked like there was} able to create a strong sense of cultural identity {with no|without the} trouble. On the other hand, I always found myself fumbling over the details, explaining to others the place of my birth, my inability to speak my native {vocabulary|terminology|dialect}, and so on. {We|I actually|My spouse and i} always felt "between" and this can still be frustrating.

Interestingly, {We are|I actually is|My spouse and i is} still an {inch|inches|very well} inbetweener " even though I am now {residing in|surviving in|moving into} an Asian country. {This|That} isn't Korea, but even if I had {came back|delivered|went back} to Korea, {I might|We would|I would personally} still be a misfit for the similar reasons that applied nationwide: I look Korean, but I {audio|appear} Australian, cannot speak Korean language, and my cultural understanding is not Korean. {We|I actually|My spouse and i} will be an {inch|inches|very well} inbetweener " wherever {We|I actually|My spouse and i} go and, of course, I am not {only|by itself|exclusively} in {a global|a new} of {ongoing|continuous|carrying on} immigration. So, if you are someone who {can simply|can certainly|may easily} state your cultural {identification|personality|id} {with no|without the} "buts, " maybe spare a thought for the " inbetweeners {inch|inches|very well} of the world.
